B2B real estate conference: exploring Estonians' expectations for their homes image 1
We’re excited to invite all real estate developers, sellers and investors, landlords, interior architects, brokers, interior designers, and students in the field to join us for a half-day B2B conference on 12 November.

Together, we’ll explore what truly defines the 'home feeling' for Estonians and how this understanding can boost real estate sales and rentals. Expect presentations from IKEA experts and guest speakers, practical case studies, and dynamic panel discussions. Plus, since the kitchen is the heart of the home, we’ll look at the role it plays in people’s lives. Come and get inspired!

When? 12 November 2025, 9:00-14:00
Where? Fotografiska Tallinn

The conference, hosted by Tõnu Toompark, is open to all and free of charge, but pre-registration is required.

What's on the agenda?

Life at Home Report: what brings people joy at home?

Marko Põder, market manager at IKEA Estonia, will present findings from the comprehensive global IKEA Life at Home survey, which explores the question: “What is the feeling of home?” Their presentation will highlight the kind of home Estonians want, what brings them joy, and what lies at the heart of their sense of home.

Democratic Design: principles behind IKEA product development (in English)

IKEA of Sweden experts Anna-Karin Sjögren and Emma Johansson discuss the Democratic Design principle, which guides the creation of IKEA products. Their presentation offers insight into IKEA’s product development philosophy, focusing on the design process of one specific product series.

Transforming a rental: a real-life renovation and furnishing journey

IKEA B2B project manager Kristina Volkov and Smart Step OÜ partner Kristiina Maajärv will share a real-life transformation of a three-room apartment in central Tallinn. Their presentation will focus on what was done – and why – based on insights into what people look for when renting, both short- and long-term. They will also explore what is most valued in furnished apartments, including the key role the kitchen plays.

Behavioural science: real estate and space – what do people wish for and why?

Behavioural scientist Heidi Reinson explains how to guide people’s decisions and what to consider when creating homes, with a focus on behavioural science. They explore what drives decision-making, how the perception and comfort of space are shaped, and what makes us feel a place is truly ‘home.’ The presentation also highlights how these insights can help sell or rent homes more effectively.

Design that moves: how kitchens and interiors drive real estate today

Head of IKEA Estonia’s interior design department Brita Mikvere and Greta Lüiste, head of marketing and communications at real estate developer Scandium, will explore how kitchens – and interior design in general – impact real estate sales and rentals. The panel discussion, moderated by Tõnu Toompark, will also cover key kitchen trends to watch.

Kitchen stories: what kind of kitchens do Estonian leading chefs work in?

A fun way to end the day. Lauri Tomingas, Head of IKEA Estonia’s food business, and leading chef Koit Uustalu cook together, chat about Estonians' dream homes, and explore smart IKEA solutions. They dive into practical topics – how to design a kitchen from a chef’s point of view, what real Estonian kitchens look like, which ones stand out, and which clever ideas could be used more often.
